The Benefit of Technology in Classrooms
Technology is its own language and its becoming more and more important in everyday society. It has become a very important piece of our society whether it's in industries, education or transportation. I highly agree with what Gary Motteram said "I argue that digital technologies are ideally placed to help teachers working with learners, and learners working independently" (Moterram). Because technology is such an independent way of learning, teachers will give the students what they need to know through email or google classroom, and then students will retrieve that and study it on their own time and whatever way they feel is best.
In the Huffington Post, they explain several reasons as to why technology is a benefit in classrooms, the fact that kids get excited about having an iPad or laptop for themselves, it allows teachers a bit more freedom as to handing out work and grading it, and it also prepares the kids for the future. I highly agree with all the reasons they displayed, I think that being computer literate is something that everyone should be at this time and age. Although it sounds amazing and fun, it will take an estimate of $15 billion to make school "technology rich" (Tahnk).
What my third and last source (University of Sacranton) discusses is that technology in classrooms will help students develop an independent mindset, one that will eventually benefit them in the long run, whenever they have to consider and approach problems on their own (Bronson). WIth technology students have the ability to work on project wherever they are with tools like google slides, wallwisher etc...
In my opinion i'm not that comfortable with technology in classrooms, i feel like it's easily distracting i rather have a teacher explain it on the board rather than dishing it into google classroom and having students learn it on their own. But in a whole different concept I think that this will eventually help students develop self-teaching skills.
